Cytogenetic Analysis

RESEARCH USE ONLY (RUO)

Cytogenetic Analysis for Research (Karyotype & FISH)

High-quality chromosome analysis for iPSCs, primary cells, blood, and tumor research samples. Reports include annotated metaphases and ISCN-style nomenclature for research documentation.

What We Offer (RUO)

G-banded Karyotyping

Metaphase analysis using standard ISCN conventions for research reporting. 20 metaphases standard (≥30 on request).

  • Detect aneuploidy and gross structural changes
  • Optional enhanced review for stem-cell line monitoring

FISH Add-ons (RUO)

Targeted probes for recurrent hotspots and stem-cell stability research.

  • Common iPSC gains (e.g., 1q, 12p, 17q)
  • Custom probe sets available on request

Research Deliverables

PDF report with karyotype images and research-oriented summary.

  • Annotated metaphase spreads & arranged karyotypes
  • Typical TAT: 5–10 business days (project-dependent)

Sample Types & Requirements

Sample Volume/Cells Notes
iPSCs / PSCs ≥1–2×106 viable cells Feeder-free preferred; ship on cold packs; no PHA required.
Peripheral Blood (research) 2–5 mL in sodium heparin Room temp; process within 24 h; PHA stimulated.
Bone Marrow / Primary Cells (research) 1–2 mL or equivalent culture Coordinate transport medium; do not refrigerate fresh marrow.
Solid Tissue / Tumor (research) Fresh minced tissue or culture Contact us for transport medium and sterile container.

We also accommodate organoids, primary cultures, and custom cell lines for research characterization.

Workflow (G-Band Karyotype, RUO)

1) Culture & Arrest

Short-term culture as needed; Colcemid metaphase arrest.

2) Harvest

Hypotonic KCl, methanol:acetic acid fixation (3:1) for banding quality.

3) Slide & Stain

Air-dried spreads; Giemsa G-banding (phosphate buffer, pH 6.8).

4) Imaging

High-NA optics; metaphase capture and karyotype assembly.

5) Review & ISCN-style

Research-grade review; ISCN-style notation for documentation.

6) Report

PDF with summary, annotated images, and notes on limitations (RUO).

Quality & Limitations (RUO)

Metaphase Targets

Standard analysis: ≥20 metaphases; karyotype ≥3 cells.
Enhanced (by request): ≥30–50 metaphases for stem-cell line monitoring.

Turnaround

Typical research projects complete in 5–10 business days, depending on sample quality and scope.

Scope

This service is intended for research characterization and process monitoring. See RUO disclaimer below.

RUO Disclaimer: Services and results are for Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures or patient management. No claims of clinical sensitivity/specificity are made.

FAQ

Is this suitable for clinical diagnosis?
No. This is an RUO service for research characterization only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic decision-making.
Do iPSCs need PHA stimulation?
No. iPSCs are actively cycling; use Colcemid for metaphase arrest.
Can you customize probe sets?
Yes, we can source or integrate custom FISH probes for specific research questions (lead time varies).
